William E. Palmer, M.D.has been Director of Musculoskeletal Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital since 1999. He oversees a staff of 10 MSK radiologists and 6 fellows. He earned his M.D. from Yale University in 1984, and obtained board certifications in both Internal Medicine (1987, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania) as well as Radiology (1991, MGH). He completed fellowship training in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at MGH, joined the MGH Radiology staff in 1991, and became Director of MRI in 1995. He is recognized for expertise in sports imaging, arthritis and image-guided intervention. He established a pain management program in spinal injections at MGH. Currently, he is President of the International Skeletal Society. He serves on the Editorial Board of Skeletal Radiology. He has received the Top Doctors award from Boston Magazine for 8 consecutive years. He is a designated team physician in the Red Sox baseball organization, and radiologist consultant to the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins.
